The first thing I learned when I began my Tarot journey is that Tarot is a language— a way for your Guides and Highest Self to communicate with us in a way that’s easier for our human brains to understand. My approach to Tarot is simple: it is a spiritual guidance system, not a Magic 8-Ball, a fortune cookie, or a Zoltar machine. It is a compass, not a treasure map. It is a means for development, not a finality. I like to think that the cards are akin to the one friend you know will set you straight no matter the situation— they may not tell you exactly what you want to hear, but they will undoubtedly tell you what you need to hear. Above all else, the cards don’t lie. Whatever message Spirit deems necessary of your attention will always come through— I’m merely the interpreter.
When I graduated from college in 2016 with a B.A. in English literature with a concentration in Creative Writing, I had every intention of pursuing a career in writing, but the Universe had other plans. After I unexpectedly and tragically lost my mother, something inside of me cracked open. I was flung full force into the most chaotic, earth-shattering identity/existential crisis of my life, for which I was incomprehensibly ill-prepared. My mental health was a prolific dumpster fire, I was directionless, miserable, floundering, and, on top of it all, my mom was suddenly just gone.
I knew that I had two options:
A. Roll over and let it consume me, or
B. Get up, wipe the blood off my face, and come out swinging.
To try and make sense of it all and cope with my grief, I began seeking what had sought me for so long. Instead of lashing out, I turned inward. I was finally able to accept that my mind, body, and spirit needed to be nurtured instead of neglected. Tarot was how I was able to truly find myself again after being so lost for so long. My purpose in this lifetime is to use my gifts for sharing wisdom, providing guidance, and teaching others how to heal their souls when they feel like they are beyond repair.
REMEMBER: IT IS YOUR BRAIN THAT ALLOWS YOU TO PUT ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER, BUT IT IS YOUR SOUL THAT GUIDES YOU, AND YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK FOR A LANTERN IF IT GETS TOO DARK OUT THERE.
